The SENS Fault Investigation Process
Our process is meticulous, employing forensic techniques and deep engineering knowledge to uncover the exact sequence of events leading to failure
On-Site Assessment & Data Collection: Review of operational history, maintenance logs, and tripping records (DGA trends, relay protection logs).
Initial external inspection for signs of fault location (e.g., tank distortion, oil leaks, pressure relief device activation).
Diagnostic Test Analysis: Comprehensive analysis of all available pre- and post-failure test data (DGA, electrical tests, etc.). We use this information to triangulate the fault type and location.
Thorough Internal Inspection (If Applicable): Supervision and execution of the transformer internal inspection with confined space certified experts.
Detailed, photographic internal and external inspections of the failed unit's active part, focusing on the core, windings, lead structure, and tap changer. We look for evidence of thermal damage, mechanical displacement, tracking, and dielectric breakdown.
